What is
play
therapy?
Play therapy is defined as the systematic use of a theoretical model that establishes an interpersonal process, in which trained therapists use the therapeutic power of play to help children prevent or resolve psychosocial difficulties and achieve optimal growth.
Play therapy is a non- directive, child led therapeutic approach that uses play and creative expression as a means for children to communicate, process experiences and emotions, and develop coping skills.
It enables children to express thoughts and emotions that they may not be able to verbalise directly.
Through play, children can explore challenges, make sense of their experiences, and build emotional resilience within a safe therapeutic relationship.
